Envoy · FinOps Profile

Envoy Finops

FOCUS-aligned FinOps view for Envoy. The Envoy software is free (Apache 2.0), so there is no SaaS-style invoice from the project. Cost shows up on the operator's cloud bill — compute, networking, egress, and observability — and on any third-party vendor invoices (Tetrate, Solo.io, cloud-provider managed mesh) chosen for support or managed deployment.

Envoy Finops is the FinOps profile for Envoy on the APIs.io network, aligned with the FinOps Foundation Framework.

It defines 3 billable meters, billed in USD (operator’s cloud bill, if any), on a n/a (project is free) cycle, and pricing category open source (infra pass-through).

The profile maps 7 FOCUS columns for cost-allocation reporting.

Tagged areas include Cloud Native, Proxy, Service Mesh, Open Source, and FinOps.
